Chris Kirk

Private (Ret'd) - 5th Battalion, Royal Regiment of Scotland

Chris was injured after stepping on an improvised explosive device (IED) whilst on patrol in Afghanistan.

After a period of uncertainty, he then joined the charity after typing "can amputee's fly helicopters" into a search engine, where he was directed to Billy Sewell's story.

Over time his hard work and tenacity paid off as Chris conquered the required theory training and graduated as a professional pilot. Impressed by his commitment and loyalty, the charity was then able to sponsor Chris through a flight instructor's course before employing him as a full-time instructor. He now earns a living helping others like him to pursue the same dream.

Thanks to the Dougie Dalzell Memorial Trust for making this possible.
