Ben Creighton

Private (Ret'd) - 2nd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment

After being diagnosed with a career limiting illness it was clear that Ben Creighton's days as a paratrooper were over. Quite literally overnight he had gone from being a fit, active member of an elite armed forces unit to being unable to dress himself without pain suppressing medication.

Medical discharge was inevitable and sadly, the years that followed only became harder as physical symptoms soon led to psychological injury and depression.

After a long period of darkness Ben received a trial flying lesson as a gift and for the first time he found a new spark. Despite his best efforts however, Ben's modest salary as a fast-food delivery man meant this was not an avenue he was able to pursue.

Now, thanks to substantial sponsorship and support from Wings for Warriors and our friends at Help for Heroes Ben has been enabled to complete his helicopter pilot training, restoring his career potential far beyond what he had ever expected.

He now works as a Senior First Officer for the world leading helicopter operator 'CHC Helicopter' flying the 5,000 horse power Sikorsky S-92 heavy-twin helicopter in support of North Sea oil and gas.
